IT Program alumnus develops upcoming smart tech

The Internet of Things is quickly integrating itself into American culture with the growing proliferation of smart devices. An MU College of Engineering alumnus is part of a team looking to give the everyday consumer many of the benefits of smart home technology at a fraction of the cost.

Jeff Nowak, a 2014 graduate of MU’s Information Technology Program, is in charge of sales and operations for Umbo, a smart device that emulates augmented reality through automated displays and gesture control. It’s designed to display personalized content on the walls of a user’s home in what is called an augmented home experience.
